Professor Jianxun Liu joined NICM's research team in 2016. He is also the Director of the Research Centre of Xiyuan Hospital, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences (CACMS); and Director of Standardized Chinese Medicine Pharmacology Laboratory of the Ministry of Science and Technology, China.
He has a strong research interest in chemical analysis and pharmacology studies of Chinese herbal medicine for cardiovascular and neurodegenerative disorders. Employing various experimental models, his research is largely focused on chemical definition and metabolism of bioactive components and safety and efficacy assessments of Chinese herbal medicine.
Professor Liu has received research grants from several prestigious national funding bodies including State Natural Science Foundation, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Health Science and CACMS.
He has published more than 400 articles in a wide range of national and international peer reviewed journals and also published eight monographs.
Professor Liu is a member of several state level committees including Editorial Committee of China Pharmacopeia, Standing Committee of Cardiovascular and TCM Pharmacology Specialty, China Pharmacology Association.
He has also received multiple national awards for his unique contribution to TCM research including "Outstanding Achievement Award" from China Pharmaceutical Association, "Li Shizhen Medical Innovation Award" from China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, "National Young and Middle-aged Star of Medical Science and Technology" and "Young and Middle-aged Experts of Outstanding Contributions" from the Ministry of Health, China.
