Associate Professor Marie Pirotta is a general practitioner and an NHMRC research fellow at the Department of General Practice within the University of Melbourne. She has served as chair of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners' National Standing Committee, Research; member of the executive group of the Australian Association for Academic Primary Care (AAAPC) and recently retired vice-chair of the RACGP's National Evaluation and Ethics Committee. She is the chair of VicReN, the practice based research network in the Department of General Practice, University of Melbourne.
Associate Professor Pirotta has been involved in several randomised controlled trials of acupuncture and herbs. Her research interests also include evidence-based complementary therapies for common problems encountered by general practitioners and women's health.
