Professor Stephen Myers is a complementary medicine expert and commentator. Since 2015 he has been a member of the NICM Health Research Institute's Research Committee, and in 2017 he was appointed at the Institute as an Adjunct Professor. He is recognised internationally as a leader in complementary medicine education and research.

Professor Myers has been extensively involved with complementary medicine education at an undergraduate and postgraduate level in Australia for the past 25 years. He is also actively engaged in research in herbal medicine, nutraceuticals, therapeutic foods and in public health issues in complementary medicine.

In 2004, Professor Myers was awarded the prestigious Lady Cilento Award by the Complementary Healthcare Council for his significant and sustained contribution to the field of complementary medicine over many years.

He was the foundational director of the Australian Centre for Complementary Medicine Education and Research (2001-2006). Professor Myers was also the foundational head of the School of Natural and Complementary Medicine at Southern Cross University (1996-2001).

Professor Myers has acted as a consultant to industry, government and educational institutions on a broad range of issues involving natural medicine. He is on the editorial panel of three international peer review journals and has a wide portfolio of publications including books, book chapters, journal articles, research reports and invited presentations proceedings.

He holds a Phd in basic clinical pharmacology and a BMed from the University of Newcastle, and ND from the Southern School of Natural Therapies.
