Dr Susan Arentz joined NICM as an Adjunct Research Fellow in 2017 specialising in women's health and infertility. She an experienced naturopath, nutritionist and researcher. Susan completed her PhD examining the role of herbal medicine in conjunction with lifestyle changes for the management of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in 2016 at NICM under the supervision of Professor Caroline Smith, Professor Alan Bensoussan and Associate Professor Jason Abbott.
In addition to her PhD, Susan holds a Bachelor of Health Science with Honours and an Advanced Diploma of Naturopathy. Her Honours research focused on the treatment of infertility using pre-conception health promotion with natural medicines. Results were presented at the NHMRC Congress in 2002.
As a health practitioner for over 20 years, Susan has worked with an array of clients both within Australia and overseas including couples with and without children, women, universities and research institutions, government organisations and writing groups, private colleges, medical conferences and the media.
