Dr Susan Arentz was appointed Adjunct Research Fellow at NICM Health Research Institute in 2017. She has over 20 years of translational research experience in traditional, complementary and integrative medicine. Dr Arentz provides expert consultancy to leading organisations including the World Naturopathic Federation the Australian Fertility Coalition, and Barwon Health’s International Diabetes Federation. Her expert knowledge of clinical trials and evidence synthesis has informed clinical practice guidelines, such as the Diabetes: Palliative and End-of-Life Care, and the implementation of clinical recommendations for clinicians and consumers, including YourFertility’s national public education program.

Dr Arentz’s research is grounded in her clinical practice as a naturopathic practitioner. She works in an integrative setting providing collaborative team-based healthcare with specialist multidisciplinary teams, including leading academic obstetricians, gynecologists and reproductive endocrinologists.

As a NICM HRI adjunct, and also editor in chief of the Australian Journal of Herbal and Naturopathic Medicine, Dr Arentz is committed to building research capacity and quality of traditional, complementary and integrative medicine research in Australia. She is an experienced lecturer in western herbal medicine, nutrition and naturopathic clinical practice. Dr Arentz is contacted for expert media commentary on women’s health and traditional, complementary and integrative medicine research. Her work has been the focus of news stories from key media outlets such as Sydney Morning Herald and 2GB radio.
