12 April 2017 The blossoming partnership between Western Sydney University and the world-leading Beijing University of Chinese Medicine was on display at April graduations as the first cohort of students who studied in Beijing received their testamurs. The Dean of the School of Science and Health, Professor Gregory Kolt, says the graduation ceremony highlights how Western Sydney University and NICM work with international partners to produce job-ready employees .
5 April 2017 NICM's Acupuncture for Women's Health - practitioner focussed research seminar - has received positive feedback with over 50 practitioners attending. The evening seminar covered a range of women's health topics from pelvic pain, to lactation and menopause.
4 April 2017 The United Nation 2030 Agenda is a plan of action for people, planet and prosperity. Western Sydney University has signed the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network Higher Education Commitment in March 2017, joining an innovative group of Australian universities.
3 April 2017 NICM welcomes two philanthropic gifts totalling $10 million – the largest in the University’s history. The Blackmore Foundation, Marcus and Caroline Blackmore's personal philanthropic trust, and Australian natural health company Blackmores, are each gifting $5 million to the University.
31 March 2017 The Chinese Medicine Board of Australia has appointed four new members to its Chinese Medicine Reference Group. NICM congratulate the new members, which include Dr Carolyn Ee, Ms Geraldine Robinson, Mr Kevin Ryan and Ms Dina Tsiopelas.
24 March 2017 NICM and UNSW researchers are investigating in a pilot clinical trial if acupuncture is effective in treating the symptoms of endometriosis, a gynaecological disease that causes pain and/or infertility and affects an estimated 176 million women worldwide.
21 March 2017 The Government’s National Science Statement was released today during Science meets Parliament by the Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science Senator the Hon Arthur Sinodinos. The statement sets a long-term approach to science, providing guidance for government investment and decision making and clarity on strategic aims.
16 March 2017 We are delighted Professor Jerome Sarris commenced his role this year with NICM as our new Deputy Director, a role critical in fulfilling our Institute's mission. In his first few months, Professor Sarris has met with many of NICM's stakeholders from academics, government, industry, associations and the healthcare sector.
