Consultation on Innovation and Science Australia’s 2030 Strategic Plan Issues Paper closes 31 May 2017. The Australian Government tasked Innovation and Science Australia to develop a Strategic Plan for the Australian innovation, science and research system out to 2030. The Strategic Plan aims to contribute to the wellbeing and prosperity of all Australians by ensuring that Australia reaches its innovation potential.

The blossoming partnership between Western Sydney University and the world-leading Beijing University of Chinese Medicine was on display at April graduations as the first cohort of students who studied in Beijing received their testamurs. The Dean of the School of Science and Health, Professor Gregory Kolt, says the graduation ceremony highlights how Western Sydney University and NICM work with international partners to produce job-ready employees .

NICM welcomes two philanthropic gifts totalling $10 million – the largest in the University’s history. The Blackmore Foundation, Marcus and Caroline Blackmore's personal philanthropic trust, and Australian natural health company Blackmores, are each gifting $5 million to the University.

NICM and UNSW researchers are investigating in a pilot clinical trial if acupuncture is effective in treating the symptoms of endometriosis, a gynaecological disease that causes pain and/or infertility and affects an estimated 176 million women worldwide.
